NO DIGNITY OF LABOUR IN INDIA-WHY?

Most of you reading this must have had a househelp in your house (Well, before the coronavirus, that is obvious.) But for the ones that don't, do you know that most of the househelps don't get the respect they deserve?Well now you do! This is because there is no Dignity of Labour in India.

You must have heard elders,or maybe your own parents, telling you this-"Study well and get a remunerative job or you will have to wash the dishes and clean the floors when you grow up."Look! This is where that mindset started from. Unknowingly, the elders have fit into their children's mind that cleaning houses and doing the household works is something shameful. And later in the future, they start feeling the same thing and don't respect people who do those type of works which is not a good practice at all!In fact, we are the ones who are depending on them for our many important works; it's just that the work they do , we don't find them salient.

CHANGE THIS MINDSET! Instead of telling them that doing works like tending the house, picking up garbage, sweeping the roads is not reputable; start telling them "Study well and even after you get a good-paying job, don't forget to respect that all works are equal." Respecting other jobs wont degrade your position. For money can make you rich, but richness in qualities is more appreciated by others.
I hope you found this blog informative and helpful.Looking forward for your support.

  4. Good blog creation! I want to tell you that parents mean those jobs are of low paid ones and lot of toil as per present day practice. In olden days they're classified as menial jobs.

  5. Very good article dear Jhanvi. Actually, to respect everyone including animals is the teachings of sanatana Dharma. Even Krishna says this in Bhagvat-gita (5.18). But modern education teaches us to be materialistic. It pays hardly any attention to the qualities that enhance our character. That's why it's on the parents to teach children about our culture & revive our lost tradition..... your article will help people to pay attention to character building.
    Keep it up.
